Farming

Accompany the home stay families as they head out to the fields, and learn some basic skills such as tilling, and harnessing the plough.

Listening to the soft tinkling of cow bells or to the chants of 'Hudkiya Baul' (traditional Kumauni song),  it is all too easy to relax into the earthy romance and slow pace of life of the farming villages of Bageshwar.
Dhur and Sorag, their farming characterised by its small fields, kitchen gardens and greenhouses, are renowned for delicious vegetables, mustard, cereals and pulses including the high altitude kidney bean. The brilliant green larger terraced fields of Karmi and Tani, meanwhile, provide conditions ideal for wheat, millet, amaranths, soy beans, green vegetables, potatoes and peas.
